Mark Moroney
2013 is shaping up to be a big year for Mark Moroney, with the release of his second album, “Walking through walls,” several major festival appearances and Australian, NZ and US tours planned for later in the year. The Sunshine Coast bluesman is re-defining the singer/songwriter role in Australia with his unique blend of finger-style guitar and smokin’ soul vocals.
Mark’s sound is more reminiscent of the Americana scene, where blues, folk, jazz, soul and pop melt together seamlessly, and yet his relaxed attitude and approach to music and storytelling is distinctly Australian.
Warm, unassuming, emotive and sometimes cheeky, Mark represents the next era of Australian roots music.
Arts critic Mike Netman from The Bay Chronicle wrote, “Tender, passionate, emotive and full of glorious phrasing – out of this world”.
(Mark was born in Warwick, Australia and grew up in the small town of Palmwoods where he first began playing music. Over the years Marks skills as a musician and songwriter developed, performing within many musical contexts and groups, along the way supporting artists such as Renee Geyer, Katie Noonan, Jeff Lang, James Reyne, David Ross Macdonald (The Waifs), Pseudo Echo, The Black Sorrows and Chris Smither.)
